Adult Use Cannabis Guide
- Must be 21 Years of age or Older with Valid Government Issued I.D.
- Purchase Limit of 1 Ounce of Flower or its equivalence of 5 grams of concentrate or 500mgs Edibles per person a day.
Laws & Warnings
- Massachusetts Law prohibits the use of Marijuana and Marijuana Infused products in public.
- Marijuana and Marijuana Products may be illegal outside of Massachusetts.
- Consumers may not sell Marijuana to any other individual. Selling marijuana to others is illegal. First time offense (under 50 lbs) may be punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment / $5,000 fine. Subsequent offenses may be punishable by up to 2.5 years imprisonment / $10,000 fine.
- When under the influence of Marijuana, driving is prohibited by M.G.L. c. 90, § 24, and machinery should not be operated.
- Marijuana has not been analyzed or approved by the FDA, that there is limited information on side effects, that there may be health risks associated with using Marijuana, and that it should be kept away from children.
- No Marijuana Product, including Marijuana, may be sold or otherwise marketed for adult use that has not first been tested by Independent Testing Laboratories, except as allowed under 935 CMR 500.000. The product must be deemed to comply with the standards required under 935 CMR 500.160.
Cannabis Tolerance, Dependence & Withdrawal
A physical dependence on cannabis has yet to be proven by researchers, however, a psychological dependence may be possible in those that regularly consume cannabis. In some cases, individuals may experience signs of cannabis dependence which can be displayed in cravings for cannabis, higher tolerance levels and disruptions both personally or professionally. Some withdrawal symptoms of cannabis can be displayed through irritability, anxiety, decreased appetite and mood changes. These symptoms can vary person to person but are very rarely harmful.
Substance Abuse Signs & Symptoms
Although different drugs have different physical effects, the symptoms of addiction are similar. If you recognize the signs and symptoms of substance abuse, consider talking to someone about your drug use.
Some examples of signs and symptoms of substance abuse are:
- Neglecting responsibilities at school, work, or home because of drug use.
- Using drugs under dangerous conditions or taking risks while high.
- Built up a drug tolerance.
- Take drugs to avoid or relieve withdrawal symptoms. Symptoms may include nausea, sweating, shakiness, and extreme anxiety.
- Causing problems in relationships.
- Abandoning enjoyed activities.
- Continue using drugs, despite knowing it is hurting you.
- Losing control over drug use, may want to stop using, but feel powerless.
If you suspect that you are developing any of the symptoms listed above, discontinue use immediately and seek help.
